As it is everywhere else in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Province of May-Ndombe is one of the most isolated provinces of the DRC. Despite its great potential, the population is disproportionately affected by the conditions of vulnerability and chronic poverty.
For example, Mushie territory which is one of the four (4) in the Plateau district, province of Mai-Ndombe. It extends from Ngelengomo via Mbali to the North, Mushie to the South, Mbu makeli via Nioki to the East Mongama, its boundary with the Bolobo Territory to the west.
This vast area expanse is mainly covered with savannas and forests with fertile soils for agriculture and livestock. It should be noted that women contribute more than 70% of the goods and services that are the source of income for the whole family.
For this reason and others, the population of this province faces the following challenges:
1. The lack of entrepreneurship initiatives,
2. The road infrastructure that is dilapidated,
3. The inadequate healthcare system,
4. A poor system of education and schooling.
Firstly, the level of agriculture development in the area is still negligible because of the lack of coordination and initiatives of farmers. There is a need to create a cooperative approach to the combined efforts of all local farmers in coordinating the storage, transportation and marketing of their productions.
Secondly, the roads and bridges that should serve as access routes to Mushie or Nioki are almost non-existent. The Mfimi River is the only means of communication and access for the transportation of goods to the capital Kinshasa.
Therefore, farmers face a big challenge that is the transportation of their artisanal agricultural productions. In spite of their efforts to move out of poverty, they often do not allow them to make profits on their products.
From the fore-cited above, and under the Initiatives of Mr. Bopaka Bo-wenge Barnabe, the founder and President, we, the co-founder members of the Non-Governmental Organization, called "ACTION FOR THE PROMOTION AND ENFORCEMENT OF AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES, HEALTH AND EDUCATION IN THE RURAL ENVIRONMENT ", in acronym" APEIDASE ":
